The Petaluma River Park Foundation has purchased the 20 acre McNear Peninsula just below the D Street Bridge for development into a new park. The park will be adjacent to over 1,300 new dwellings in the future and is a key asset to the city. To have this parkland so central to Downtown Petaluma is a wonder and deserves the support of everyone in Petaluma.
The cement plant is opposite the waterway leading to the old Steamer Gold Landing. It is a dominant feature on the landscape. This view is from the Steamer Gold Park looking towards the beginning of the new Petaluma River Park.
At one time there was a tent and faux carousel on the dock at the park.
